Pressing flowers as a child with my maternal grandmother, sowed the seeds of my passion as a botanical artist. I now grow, collect and press flowers, grasses and leaves that comprise my treasured collections. Using traditional wooden presses and the occasional old heavy world atlas, these beautiful specimens are preserved and transformed through graphic-style compositions on materials ranging from acid-free watercolour paper, re-cycled fabrics, tissue-paper and teabags. At Open Studios, I will be showing a cross-section of my work, including original pieces, prints, name signs, greetings cards, bookmarks and gift tags. My work has a contemporary style and is available in various sizes, with or without frames and can also be ordered to size, if required. Prices range from £5 to £150, and we have our festive promotions, especially for children, to inspire them to create art from their local natural environment. Although I studied graphics at college, I trained as a health care professional and worked for a number of years before re-kindling my passion for art and nature and practising as an artist
