Sarah Barker Brown

Sarah Barker Brown is a figurative painter whose focus is on the female body seeking insight into the inner truths about the lives of women. Intimacy, sexuality, pleasure and female friendship form the themes on which she weaves her narrative path, illuminated through a lens of nostalgia and tenderness.

A former footwear designer, she graduated (2017) with First Class Honours from London’s Art Academy where she studied under Tai Shan Shierenberg.

Her recent work has been selected for INGDiscerning Eye 2020, 2019 and 2018, SWA 2020, Stage 2 John Moores Painting Prize 2020, Beep International Painting Prize 2018, The Holly Bush Woman Painter Prize 2020 (Mangtangi Prize) and Every Woman Biennial London 2021. In 2017 work was included in Ruth Borchard Self Portrait Prize Exhibition at London’s Kings Place.
