Lucille Dweck

I paint natural scenes, mostly with water. I talk about the magical, spiritual aspect of being immersed in nature .In my portraits, I reach for the humanity of the sitter.

Growing up in a misogynistic era I struggled with being heard. I choose to paint as way of expressing and giving value to my thoughts. What began as a quest for self-knowledge became a passion to know what unites people. My paintings talk about personal boundless moments free from self-consciousness.

I am intrigued with light and reflections and use them to create the mood and feel of the work.

Although the paintings are very figurative the materiality of the paint and brushstrokes are always expressed and respected.
