Liz Sutherland

Since 1994 I have been making and exhibiting figurative art. The themes have been broad and include cityscapes of London where I live, landscapes and seascapes of places I have visited, and more autobiographical paintings of my family and myself. I had several solo shows in London including two at the Groucho Club and two at the Highgate Literary and Scientific Institute. In 2019 I exhibited a collection of cityscapes and landscapes. Many of the oil paintings on display were influenced by my ipad sketches and were colourful and fluid in their application and style.   My aim is to produce works that emit an energy and dynamism. I would describe my approach as trying to capture the essential energies of people and landscapes, creating images others can recognize and immediately respond to.
