This body of work was inspired by Michelangelo’s Sibyls from the Sistine chapel. They are hyper- idealised, androgynous and powerful figures which have provided a rich seam of imagery to explore and think about notions of female agency and identity. The domestic realm is a also a source of inspiration and is referenced in wallpaper patterns, fabric and drapery since I wish to consider how adornment, artifice and display are used in the creation of identity. Self-portraiture is a vehicle to consider the myriad dualities about the body, as subject and object, artist and sitter
