Hilary Kidd

My artwork is abstract and has a graphic quality, containing elements of natural and geometric forms. I am interested in pattern, grids, texture, colour, rhythm, and line. Having recently been inspired during a course in textile and mixed media work, I want to increasingly incorporate cloth, paper, and stitch into my work.

My ideas come from many sources – observation and photographing of natural and manmade objects, awareness of other artists’ work, and images, particularly patterns, that just seem to pop into my head which I then develop. I like to experiment with different materials and processes. I love visiting art exhibitions in London and elsewhere, and often come away with ideas for new work.
