Helena Roden is an award-winning sculptor working on large scale commissions for public spaces. Her painted metalwork pieces are installed in housing developments, underpasses and parks. Every sculpture is researched and developed as a specific response to its location; the aspirations of residents, plants that grow on site or historical characters from the area. Her interests include botanical drawing, breaking down geometric patterns and rescuing feminist icons from history.
Engaging groups of people from local neighbourhoods in the creative process is an integral part of her practice. This includes projects in schools and work as an artist educator within adult education and community settings besides activities related to her sculpture.
